INGREDIENTS:
2 Squares bitter chocolate ( Bakers)
1 Cup whole milk
2 Cups Sugar
2 Tablespoons Karo Syrup
Pinch of Salt
1 Tablespoon butter
1 Teaspoon vanilla
PROCESS:
Combine all ingredients(except vanilla and butter) into a heavy sauce pan and bring to a boil. When mixture reaches a thickened boil it is ready for testing. Use a wooden spoon to stir and test by dipping spoon into boiling mixture and immediately dropping a sample into ice cold water. When the drop turns into a soft but solid ball, it is finished. Remove from heat add butter and beat with wooden spoon 50 times, add vanilla and beat 50 more times. Pour into lightly buttered pie pan. Allow to cool down and slice into squares before completely cooled. If this doesn't work, call Uncle Mickey and bribe him to make some for you.
NOTE: The wooden spoon and ice water method may be substituted for a candy thermometer. Cook until temperature reaches between 260 to 280. The higher the temperature the harder the fudge.
